Dr. Gerardo Guadarrama performs comprehensive eye exams with an interest in primary care , ocular disease management, glaucoma and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Guadarrama graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Northern Illinois University in 2017. He earned his Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2024.
While completing his externships, he has gained extensive clinical knowledge and experience in diagnosing and managing various eye conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, age- related macular degeneration and preoperative and postoperative care. During his optometric training, Dr. Guadarrama developed an interest in contact lenses. He completed a specialty contact lens rotation, where he received specialized training in fitting various types of contact lenses including, soft lenses, rigid gas permeable and other specialty lenses for conditions such as keratoconus and astigmatism.
In addition to his academic endeavors, Dr. Guadarrama currently holds memberships to the American Optometric Associations well as the North Carolina Optometric Society. Dr. Guadarrama is fluent in Spanish and English.
Dr. Guadarrama originally from Illinois, is new to the area and is excited to see what life in NC brings. Outside of optometry, Dr. Guadarrama enjoys spending time outside, hiking, trying new restaurants and cuisines and to watch sports.
